Kaempferia marginata
This magnificent small ginger makes two almost perfect round leaves lying flat out on the ground. It is closely related to galange and it is also grown for the use as a spice. The flower only lives less than a day, but the plant keeps producing orchid-like flowers for weeks during the growing season. The tuber is locally also use as a medicine and it is to believed to relieve toothache. Picture of growing plant is taken 30 days after planting the rhizome, flowers will appear two weeks from now.
